Positive Distraction Zone

Do you ever get joy from working on a task that’s out of your typical job description? Perhaps you find yourself “procrastinating work with other work” (that’s less pressing, but more fun)?

We’re often all working on simultaneous projects, but we find ourselves enjoying the distraction of creative work. We’ve found that by keeping creative “nice to have” tasks on our plates, even when busy, it can actually help our team. Why? Science says our brains are rejuvenated by the creative stimulation of doing something different

Enter the positive distraction zone.

Scientists have proved that breaks lead to increased productivity and that creativity relieves anxiety and stress. Coupling that with our own *radical* finding that getting through our to-do list is important! Recently, we’ve acknowledged our tendencies to find calm in working on different side projects and are using that joy for good.

Need an instagram reel made? Bekah’s on it. Need a graphic design for marketing? Katherine’s got you. When we’re deep in our assignments, our brains are so overjoyed by working on a creative project we find purely fun – we’ve built these ‘positive distraction zones’ into our workflow.

Giving the chance to allow our team to flex to other skills makes us stronger, gets our work done, and gives our team a moment to refresh in a task that is creative & can feel easy and different…and that’s the magic of positive distractions.
